Nonnative Shore

Dark winter breeze bellows across

Flowing with incremental volumes

Rattling branches crackle from each gust

Shearing the last vegetation of autumn.

Remnants of summer scatter on the streets.

Rotting in amber beautiful as it can be.

Marking the start of a new equinox

Spine chilling feeling trickles through the bones

Mist of heat drifts in the wind

Vanishing into oblivion.

Through a numb mouth that cracks by time

Striding jittery through the unknown

Through a land that does not belong

Taking each step with unseen confidence.

Through a street vaguely lit.

Distant from domicile

Absence of peers

Learning from experience

Cultivating knowledge away from comfort zone

Enduring it with patience

All this for?

A better tomorrow.
